The Story Behind Atelier: A Name Inspired by Paris, Purpose & Possibility

More than a name, Atelier represents a vision for the future of financial services.

There are some words that just feel like they mean a little more. For me, Atelier was one of them!

Inspired by my love of travel, the timeless elegance and luxury of Paris, and the beauty of thoughtfully crafted details, I wanted a name that felt sophisticated, intentional, and a little different from the traditional accounting world that can sometimes be boring and intimidating.

But behind the French influence and the polished aesthetic, there was a bigger reason I chose it.

I wanted to build something that could grow and evolve.

A Little French Inspiration

If you’ve ever wandered the streets of Paris, you’ll understand the feeling I’m talking about. There’s something special about the way the city brings everything together: there’s the amazing cafe culture, the tiny little boutiques, the delicious bistros on every street, the beauty of the architecture, the timeless style, and an appreciation for the finer details.

An atelier is a French word commonly used to describe a workshop or studio, a collective or place where creativity, skill, and craftsmanship come together to create something meaningful. That idea resonated with me.

I didn’t want Atelier Financial Services to feel like just another bookkeeping business, I wanted it to feel like a thoughtfully built financial studio, where business owners could find the support, insight, and services they need to build something of their own.

A place where the details matter, relationships come first, and every business receives an approach tailored to its needs.

And, of course, I wanted a little Parisian inspiration along the way!

More Than Bookkeeping

When I started Atelier Financial Services, my vision extended beyond keeping books balanced and transactions categorized.

I wanted to help business owners understand their numbers, make sense of their financial position, and use that information to make more confident decisions. Bookkeeping is important but understanding what your financials are telling you? That’s where things get exciting!

As I thought about the future, I knew I wanted room to grow beyond bookkeeping alone. 

Today, Atelier provides bookkeeping and financial support, but my vision is to continue expanding our services as the business evolves. That could mean introducing additional financial services, bringing new expertise into the team, and creating more opportunities to support our clients at different stages of their business journeys.

That’s where the meaning behind Atelier really comes to life.

I love the idea of bringing different services, skill sets, and perspectives together under one roof. A collective of expertise, working toward a common goal: helping business owners build stronger, more sustainable businesses.

Rather than outgrowing our name as we grow, I wanted a name that could grow right alongside us.
